Serie A | Venezia 0-1 Roma: Match Report

Start

In a closely contested match, Roma emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Venezia, thanks to a second-half penalty converted by Paulo Dybala. This result extends Roma’s unbeaten league streak and marks their fifth win in eight Serie A matches under Claudio Ranieri’s guidance.

The game saw several players making their Serie A debuts. Venezia introduced goalkeeper Ionut Radu and forward David Fila, both recent January signings. Roma countered with Lucas Gourna-Douath in midfield, filling in for the suspended Manu Kone, while Bryan Cristante returned to the lineup.

Early in the match, Venezia appealed for a penalty when John Yeboah’s shot appeared to hit Gianluca Mancini’s arm, but the referee dismissed the claim, a decision upheld after a lengthy VAR review.

Roma had their own close calls. Mancini nearly scored from a Dybala free-kick, only to see his header cleared off the line by Hans Nicolussi Raviglia. Artem Dovbyk also tested Radu with a looping header just before halftime.

The decisive moment came ten minutes into the second half when Angelino was fouled by Alessandro Marcandalli in the penalty area. Dybala stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the right corner, sending Radu the wrong way.

Roma had chances to extend their lead, with Zeki Celik coming close with a header late in the game. Despite not being their most polished performance, the win propels Roma temporarily into ninth place in the Serie A standings, showcasing their improved form under Ranieri’s management.
