Serie A | Roma v Venezia: Probable starting lineups

Start

Roma will host Venezia at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday but Paulo Dybala is unlikely to feature for the home side.

The Giallorossi enter this fixture with 6 points from their first five matches, coming off a victory against Udinese and a draw with Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League. Venezia, meanwhile, secured their first win of the season last week against Genoa and sit on 4 points.

Ivan Juric’s Roma side will look to build on their recent positive results and climb up the table. The Croatian manager may rotate his squad following Thursday’s European exertions. Paulo Dybala’s availability remains uncertain after he was substituted at halftime against Athletic Bilbao.

For Venezia, former Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco returns to the Olimpico hoping to frustrate his old club. The Lagunari welcome back Hans Nicolussi Caviglia from suspension, providing an additional midfield option.

Roma are expected to line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Mile Svilar in goal behind a back three of Gianluca Mancini, Evan Ndicka, and Angelino. Zeki Celik and Stephan El Shaarawy should occupy the wing-back positions, while Boubacar Koné and Bryan Cristante anchor the midfield. Tommaso Baldanzi and Matias Soulé are likely to support striker Artem Dovbyk.

Venezia are anticipated to deploy a 3-5-2 system. Jesse Joronen will start in goal, with Tyronne Ebuehi, Marco Modolo, and Ridgeciano Haps forming the defensive trio. The midfield five should consist of Gianluca Busio, Tanner Tessmann, and Joel Pohjanpalo, flanked by Ales Mateju and Michael Svoboda. Gianluca Busio and Dennis Johnsen are expected to lead the attack.

Probable Roma lineup (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino; Celik, Koné, Cristante, El Shaarawy; Baldanzi, Soulé; Dovbyk

Probable Venezia lineup  (3-5-2): Joronen; Idzes, Svoboda, Haps; Candela, Busio, Nicolussi Caviglia, Duncan, Zampano; Oristanio, Pohjanpalo
