Serie A | Roma v Bologna: Probable starting lineups

Start

As Roma prepares to host Bologna in a pivotal Serie A encounter, both managers are grappling with lineup decisions and injury concerns.

Roma’s coach Ivan Juric is expected to make several alterations to his starting eleven following their midweek Europa League match in Belgium. Top scorer Artem Dovbyk is likely to return to the lineup, providing a boost to Roma’s attack. However, the team will have to cope without the creative talents of Paulo Dybala, who has been ruled out due to injury.

Defensively, Roma faces challenges with Mario Hermoso sidelined due to a muscular issue and Alexis Saelemaekers out with an ankle problem. There’s a possibility that Evan Ndicka could return after recovering from illness. In the recent match against Union SG, Bryan Cristante filled in at defense, leaving new signing Mats Hummels still waiting for his first start with the club.

On the Bologna side, manager Vincenzo Italiano is likely to recall captain Riccardo Orsolini to the starting lineup. Orsolini, who was rested in their midweek fixture, has been in impressive form, scoring in three consecutive league games. His recent goal against Lecce marked his achievement of reaching double-digit goals in three different calendar years.

Former Roma goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski is set to face his old club, adding an intriguing subplot to the match.

Bologna will be without several key players due to injuries, including Nicolo Cambiaghi, Oussama El Azzouzi, Martin Erlic, and Michel Aebischer.
