Serie A | Parma 2-3 Cagliari: Match Report

Start

Cagliari clinched their first Serie A victory of the 2024-25 season in a pulsating 3-2 away win against newly-promoted Parma on Monday night. The match saw goals from Nadir Zortea, Razvan Marin, and Roberto Piccoli for the visitors.

Both teams made several changes to their starting lineups, with Parma introducing Emmanuele Valeri and Antoine Hainaut, while Cagliari brought in Adam Obert, Michel Adopo, and Nicolas Viola.

The game started with early drama as Yerry Mina’s seventh-minute goal for Cagliari was disallowed for offside. However, the visitors soon took the lead through Zortea’s powerful header, assisted by a precise cross from Ito Luvumbo.

Parma equalized in the 62nd minute when Dennis Man, who has been in impressive form this season, finished off a well-worked move initiated by substitute Woyo Coulibaly.

Cagliari regained the lead through a spectacular strike from substitute Razvan Marin, only for Parma to level again via a Hernani penalty. The spot-kick was awarded after a lengthy VAR review for a foul by Jose Luis Palomino on Gabriel Charpentier.

The decisive moment came shortly after, as Roberto Piccoli finished off a flowing team move to secure the win for Cagliari.

This victory lifts Cagliari to 16th place in the Serie A table, a significant improvement from their previous bottom position. Parma now sit just one spot above them, level on points.
