Parma’s hopes of distancing themselves from the relegation zone were dashed in a disappointing 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Venezia at the Ennio Tardini. The result left the home fans voicing their displeasure, as both teams converted penalties in a tense encounter.
The match began with Venezia taking an early lead through Joel Pohjanpalo’s confidently struck penalty. The spot-kick was awarded after VAR intervention, spotting a clumsy challenge by Mandela Keita on John Yeboah.
Parma’s lackluster first-half performance prompted coach Fabio Pecchia to make a triple substitution at the break. The changes injected new life into the home side, with Drissa Camara becoming a central figure in their improved second-half showing.
The equalizer came when Camara won a penalty after being fouled by Antonio Candela. Hernani stepped up to convert, leveling the score and setting up a tense finale.
Both teams had chances to secure all three points. Venezia thought they had found a winner through Gaetano Oristanio, only for VAR to rule it out for offside. Parma pushed hard in the closing stages, with Camara and Dennis Man coming close, but were unable to break the deadlock.
The draw does little to ease either team’s relegation concerns, with both sides remaining perilously close to the drop zone. For Parma, the result feels like a missed opportunity, especially given their home advantage and second-half dominance.
