Serie A | Napoli 3-1 Como: Match Report

Start

Napoli continued their impressive run in Serie A, securing a convincing 3-1 victory against Como to maintain their position at the top of the league table.

The match began with an electrifying moment as Scott McTominay found the back of the net just 25 seconds after kickoff. The midfielder expertly converted an assist from Romelu Lukaku, maneuvering into the box and slotting the ball in off the left post to give Napoli an early advantage.

Despite falling behind, Como demonstrated impressive form throughout the first half. Nico Paz emerged as a constant threat, coming close to equalizing on multiple occasions. His most notable attempt came in the 33rd minute when he struck the post from 25 yards out, narrowly missing an opportunity to level the score.

Como’s persistence paid off just before halftime when Strefezza managed to equalize. His shot, threading through Alessandro Buongiorno’s legs, caught goalkeeper Elia Caprile off guard and found its way into the far corner.

The tide turned in Napoli’s favor early in the second half. Five minutes after the restart, Matias Olivera won a penalty following an exchange with Lukaku inside the Como penalty area. Lukaku stepped up to take the spot-kick, confidently dispatching it down the middle to restore Napoli’s lead.

Antonio Conte’s halftime adjustments appeared to have a significant impact, as Como struggled to maintain their first-half momentum. Napoli effectively nullified their opponents’ attacking threats for much of the second period, demonstrating their tactical superiority.

With just four minutes remaining in regulation time, Napoli put the game beyond doubt. Lukaku’s excellent hold-up play set up David Neres for a one-on-one opportunity with Como’s goalkeeper Audero. The Brazilian forward made no mistake, finding the bottom corner from 12 yards out to secure a 3-1 victory for Napoli.

This win ensures Napoli will remain at the top of the Serie A table for the second consecutive week, currently holding a four-point advantage over second-placed Juventus. As the season progresses, Napoli’s commanding performances continue to solidify their status as strong contenders for the Serie A title.
