Serie A | Juventus 2-2 Fiorentina: Match Report

Start

Khephren Thuram made headlines by scoring his first two goals for Juventus, but a late equalizer from Riccardo Sottil ensured that the match against Fiorentina ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Both teams entered the match with 31 points, although Fiorentina had a game in hand. Juventus had recently broken a streak of four consecutive draws with a win over Monza, but they were still missing key players including Tim Weah and Arkadiusz Milik. Meanwhile, Fiorentina was looking to bounce back after suffering two defeats following an impressive eight-match winning streak.

The match was charged with emotion as Moise Kean and Dusan Vlahovic faced their former clubs. Early on, Vlahovic nearly scored with a header from a Francisco Conceicao cross, but the game was briefly halted to address racist chants directed at him from the stands.

Juventus took the lead when Thuram capitalized on a gap in Fiorentina’s defense, driving low into the corner past goalkeeper Danilo Cataldi. However, Fiorentina equalized through Kean, who scored with a glancing header from a Yacine Adli cross, choosing not to celebrate against his old team.

Juventus regained the lead shortly after halftime when Thuram struck again, finishing off a well-placed through ball with precision. Despite several opportunities for both sides, including a stunning save by David De Gea on Vlahovic’s shot and another close call from Manuel Locatelli, the match remained intense.

In the dying minutes, a slip by Andrea Cambiaso led to a sustained Fiorentina attack. Kean’s effort was blocked, but the ball fell to Sottil, who volleyed it home to level the score once more.
