Serie A | Inter v Venezia: Probable starting lineups

Start

Inter Milan are preparing to host struggling Venezia at the Stadio Meazza in San Siro on Sunday evening. The defending Serie A champions are looking to build on their midweek 3-0 victory over Empoli as they continue their title defense.

Manager Simone Inzaghi is expected to make some changes to his lineup, balancing the need for rest with maintaining momentum. The prolific attacking duo of Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez is set to lead the line once again, having formed a formidable partnership this season.

In midfield, Davide Frattesi is likely to retain his starting spot after an impressive brace against Empoli. However, star midfielder Nicolò Barella is anticipated to be rested, with Piotr Zielinski stepping in to fill the void. On the right flank, Denzel Dumfries is favored to start over Matteo Darmian.

Defensively, Alessandro Bastoni is expected to make way for Yann Bisseck as Inzaghi rotates his squad. The Inter backline will face a familiar face in goal, as Filip Stankovic, on loan from Inter, is set to start for Venezia.

The visitors, coming off a morale-boosting comeback win against Udinese, will look to spring a surprise. They’ll be bolstered by the presence of another Inter loanee, Gaetano Oristanio, who is likely to feature in attack.

Both teams have some absentees, with Bjarki Bjarkason unavailable for Venezia, while Inter will be without Carlos Augusto and Kristjan Asllani.

Inter (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, De Vrij, Pavard; Dumfries, Frattesi, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro Martinez.

Venezia (3-5-2): Stankovic; Altare, Svoboda. Idzses; Zampano, Nicolussi Caviglia, Duncan, Busio, Haps; Oristanio, Pohjanpalo.
