Inter Milan delivered a masterclass performance, thrashing Atalanta 4-0 in a one-sided Serie A encounter at the San Siro. Marcus Thuram starred with a brace, while Nicolò Barella added a spectacular volley to complete the demolition of La Dea.
The French striker opened the scoring with a fortuitous deflection off Berat Djimsiti that wrong-footed Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi. Thuram then showcased his predatory instincts in the second half, reacting quickest to a loose ball from a throw-in to make it 3-0 before completing his brace with an opportunistic finish from close range.
Nicolò Barella doubled Inter’s lead before halftime with a goal of the highest quality. The midfielder unleashed an unstoppable left-footed volley from the edge of the box that flew into the top corner, leaving Carnesecchi with no chance.
Despite some promising moments, including a fierce Davide Zappacosta strike that required a fine save from Yann Sommer, Atalanta never truly threatened to get back into the match. The visitors were hampered by several key absences, including Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini.
Inter could have further extended their lead in the closing stages. Marko Arnautovic squandered two golden chances, first opting to pass when clean through on goal and then somehow missing from point-blank range following a corner.
