Serie A | Como 2-0 Lecce: Match Report

Start

Como secured a vital victory against Lecce in Serie A on Monday evening, with goals from Nico Paz and Patrick Cutrone leading the team to a 2-0 win at home. This result allowed the newly promoted side to climb above Lecce in the league standings, moving into 15th place.

Both teams fielded relatively stable lineups, with Cutrone returning to Como’s squad in place of veteran Andrea Belotti. The match began as a tightly contested affair, with neither side able to break the deadlock during the first half, which ended 0-0.

The breakthrough came just three minutes into the second half. Cutrone, positioned at the left corner of the penalty area, passed the ball to Nico Paz. Instead of attempting a one-two, Paz opted to take a shot from the edge of the box, successfully finding the bottom corner past Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone.

Cutrone then added a second goal for Como around half an hour later. Following a build-up involving Paz and Strefezza, Ignacio Van Der Brempt attempted a shot from a tight angle on the right side of the area. Although Falcone managed to save it, he spilled the ball, allowing Cutrone to capitalize and score from close range.

With this victory, Como moved ahead of Lecce in the Serie A table, marking an important step for Cesc Fabregas’s side. Looking ahead, Como faces a challenging schedule as they prepare to travel to Rome for a match against Lazio on January 10, followed by a home game against AC Milan on January 14.
