Serie A | Cagliari v Atalanta: Probable starting lineups

Start

Atalanta are preparing for their upcoming Serie A match against Cagliari with a potentially potent attacking lineup. Mateo Retegui, the current Capocannoniere leader, is expected to return to the starting eleven after a few games on the bench.

Retegui will likely be supported by two of Atalanta’s most dynamic attackers: Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman. Lookman continues to impress, approaching a significant milestone of 50 goal involvements in Serie A. Since his league debut in August 2022, only Lautaro Martinez has been more prolific, with 61 goal contributions.

Gian Piero Gasperini faces some selection challenges. Gianluca Scamacca and Juan Cuadrado remain unavailable, while Italy defender Giorgio Scalvini is a doubt. On a positive note, Davide Zappacosta has recovered from his layoff and could feature in the match.

Cagliari enters the game with a boost, as Gianluca Lapadula has returned to full training after missing the previous week’s match against Fiorentina. The home side will likely field Atalanta-owned striker Roberto Piccoli, a product of Bergamo’s youth system, leading their attack.

With Atalanta sitting atop the Serie A table and Cagliari fighting to avoid the relegation zone, this match promises to be an intriguing contest. Lookman and Retegui will be key to Atalanta’s hopes of maintaining their impressive form and extending their lead at the top of the league.
