Serie A | Cagliari 0-2 Bologna: Match Report

Start

Bologna secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Cagliari, marking only their second win of the season. The match saw Riccardo Orsolini and Jens Odgaard find the back of the net, dealing another blow to the struggling Sardinian side.

The game started with intense action as Cagliari nearly took an early lead. Lukasz Skorupski made a crucial save, aided by the woodwork, to deny Roberto Piccoli’s deflected cross. Gianluca Gaetano’s follow-up header was then cleared off the line.

Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini had two notable chances: a close-range effort saved by Simone Scuffet’s fingertips and a missed opportunity from 10 yards out. However, Orsolini finally broke the deadlock with a powerful right-footed shot into the top corner from a difficult angle, assisted by Dan Ndoye.

Bologna extended their lead after the break when Jens Odgaard’s left-footed strike from outside the box found its way past Scuffet, who perhaps could have done better.

Cagliari attempted to mount a comeback, with Skorupski making an impressive double save on Gaetano’s deflected shot and Razvan Marin’s effort from the resulting corner. The Bologna goalkeeper also bravely rushed out to deny Mattia Felici.

This victory was particularly significant for Bologna, who had been struggling with form, having won only once in their previous 11 competitive matches. The win will provide a much-needed boost to Vincenzo Italiano’s side. For Cagliari, this defeat ended a promising run of seven points from their last three matches. The loss was compounded by the absence of key players, including the suspended Antoine Makoumbou and injured Jakub Jankto and Kingstone Mutandwa.
