Serie A | Bologna v Monza: Probable starting lineups

Start

Bologna are set to face Monza this Sunday in a crucial Serie A matchup at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. After a challenging midweek fixture, Bologna’s head coach Vincenzo Italiano is expected to implement several changes to his lineup as they look to secure vital points.

Colombian centre-back Jhon Lucumi is likely to return after serving a one-match suspension, while Lewis Ferguson and Juan Miranda could also be reinstated in the starting XI. Bologna has been grappling with injuries, but long-term absentees Oussama El Azzouzi and Nicolo Cambiaghi have recently returned to training, although Cambiaghi is not yet match-ready. Swiss midfielder Michel Aebischer continues to be sidelined due to a hernia issue.

On the other side, Monza will welcome back Danilo D’Ambrosio after his suspension, but they will have to cope without Portuguese wing-back Pedro Pereira, who is now banned. The team will also miss Samuele Birindelli, Dany Mota, and Luca Caldirola due to injuries. Defender Pablo Mari faces a fitness test before the match to determine if he can participate.

Despite their struggles this season, Monza recently achieved a significant victory against Fiorentina, winning 2-1 and providing a much-needed boost as they aim to escape the relegation zone. However, they remain at the bottom of the standings and will need to secure their first away win since October if they hope to continue their climb up the table.

Bologna (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Holm, Beukema, Lucumi, Miranda; Freuler, Pobega; Orsolini, Ferguson, Dominguez; Castro

Monza (3-5-2): Turati; Izzo, Caldirola, Carboni; Ciurria, Bianco, Sensi, Bondo, Kyriakopoulos; Caprari, Maldini
