Serie A | Bologna v Como: Probable starting lineups

Start

As Bologna prepares to host Como at the Stadio Dall’Ara, both teams are grappling with injury issues that could impact their lineups for Saturday’s Serie A encounter.

Bologna receives a boost with the return of midfield lynchpin Remo Freuler from suspension, while defender Jhon Lucumi is expected to shake off a recent illness. However, the Rossoblu will be without the services of Italian international winger Riccardo Orsolini, who remains sidelined with injury.

There are also question marks over the availability of key midfielder Lewis Ferguson, who suffered a thigh strain during Wednesday’s match. Fellow midfielders Michel Aebischer and Nicolo Cambiaghi are facing late fitness tests to determine their readiness for the game.

Manager Vincenzo Italiano is likely to recall first-choice goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski after rotating his squad midweek. Benjamin Dominguez, who has been in fine form with four goal involvements in his last four Serie A outings, is also expected to feature prominently.

The match could showcase two of Serie A’s emerging talents, with Bologna’s Santiago Castro and Como’s Nico Paz both looking to add to their impressive goal tallies this season. Paz may partner with either Patrick Cutrone or Andrea Belotti in Como’s attack, though Gabriel Strefezza is another option after starting as a false nine in their previous match.

Como’s injury list includes Sergi Roberto, who is still recovering from a muscular issue, while full-backs Alberto Moreno and Ignace Van der Brempt are dealing with flexor problems. Forward Alessandro Gabrielloni is also doubtful, but defender Edoardo Goldaniga returns to the squad after serving a one-match suspension.

Bologna (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; Holm, Lucumi, Beukema, Miranda; Freuler, Pobega; Ndoye, Odgaard, Dominguez; Castro

Como (3-4-2-1): Butez; Goldaniga, Kempf, Dossena; Iovine, Da Cunha, Perrone, Diao; Paz, Fadera; Cutrone
