Serie A | Bologna 3-1 Monza: Match Report

Start

Bologna staged a thrilling comeback to secure a 3-1 victory over Monza in a Serie A clash at the Renato Dall’Ara stadium. The match began with an unexpected turn as Monza’s Daniel Maldini caught Bologna off guard with a swift counter-attack, giving the visitors an early lead.

However, the Rossoblu quickly regained their composure and mounted a fierce response. Santiago Castro equalized with a well-placed header, connecting with a precise cross from Riccardo Orsolini. The momentum then shifted firmly in Bologna’s favor as they took the lead through a brilliantly executed move. Benjamin Dominguez set up Jens Odgaard, who skillfully flicked the ball up before smashing it home on the half-volley.

Bologna continued to dominate, creating several chances to extend their lead. Stefan Posch missed a golden opportunity, skying the ball over from close range after a defensive block. The home side’s persistence paid off when Orsolini, who had been instrumental throughout the match, finally ended his goal drought. The Italian winger controlled a cross from Charalampos Lykogiannis and finished from a tight angle at the far post.

The match was not without its challenges for Monza, who lost Warren Bondo to injury, further complicating their efforts to get back into the game. Bologna, meanwhile, could have added to their tally, with Thijs Dallinga coming close and Lorenzo De Silvestri striking the post in the closing stages.
