Sergio Conceiçao has officially embarked on his journey as the new head coach of AC Milan following the dismissal of Paulo Fonseca. In his inaugural interview with the club, the Portuguese manager expressed his pride and excitement about taking on this significant role.

Conceiçao recently led his first training session at Milanello, gearing up for the team’s upcoming match in the Supercoppa Italiana against Juventus. Acknowledging the limited time available to prepare, he emphasized that this should not serve as an excuse. “We represent a grand club; we must be up to the challenge,” he stated.

Reflecting on his initial hours at Milan, Conceiçao shared, “I am proud of this adventure. The emotion is momentary because we need to work. We must have a warm heart and a cool head to work at our best and win matches, which is what we want, because we represent a great club on a global level.”

With important tests ahead, Conceiçao noted the urgency of maximizing their preparation time: “We don’t have much time, which is absolutely not an excuse. In this short time, we need to work hard, and the players must understand what they need to do individually and as a strong team in every match.”

He stressed that “work” is paramount: “There is no other way because there is a lot of work to be done. A strong mentality is needed; then with the organization we have and the quality of the players, we will achieve great things this year. Words are just words; I must demonstrate with actions and results.”

Conceiçao reiterated his commitment: “We are here to work. What I need to tell the fans is that we will work hard to live up to a great club like Milan.” As he prepares for his first competitive match, all eyes will be on how he shapes the team in this crucial period.
