AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has addressed several key topics in a recent interview with Corriere della Sera, offering insights into the club’s relationship with Inter Milan and the future of head coach Paulo Fonseca.
Regarding the recent controversy surrounding Gerry Cardinale’s comments about Inter Milan, Scaroni clarified:
“Cardinale, as a sports figure and not just a businessman, was referring to Inter’s past ownership and certainly not to the current club. On the field, we face each other and want to beat each other, as in the last derby. Sometimes we may tease each other good-naturedly, but it’s clear that off the field there is respect and loyal collaboration with Inter. We’ve always shared the stadium and are working together to build a new one. Milan is a unique reality where fans can fortunately go to watch the derby mingling together in a serene atmosphere.”
When asked about Paulo Fonseca’s position as head coach, Scaroni was unequivocal in his support:
“No, not at all. We all wish him to win a lot.”
Scaroni also commented on the recent changes in the leadership of Serie A:
“I believe, beyond the legal disputes over Simonelli’s eligibility, that the desire for change expressed by 14 out of 20 clubs will inevitably prevail.”
