After Sassuolo’s 4-2 defeat in the Emilian derby against Bologna, coach Alessio Dionisi shared his thoughts in an interview with Sky Sport. The Neroverdi were ahead at one point in the game, and Dionisi addressed the issues faced by his team, emphasizing the need for more determination, courage, and commitment from both himself and the players to secure success in Serie A:
“In the end, we lost something with the substitutions. At the beginning, we needed a bit more energy and boldness. Then, we were third in challenges, and the games never end. Some need minutes, but then those minutes cost us; we can’t wait for them. This is our championship. We have to face it with courage. Until May, we have to stay focused, and if we remain in Serie A, we will celebrate.
“Now we need to put in those who have something more and a bit of recklessness. But this doesn’t mean Lipani is more ready than those who came on. Those who gave less must not hide; they need to give more in training and, therefore, in the match. Matheus Henrique was missing, but it’s not an excuse. I need to give more, but the players also need to give more.
“Some substitutions were forced, fatigue sets in, but I expected more during the game. Some play for the national team; I won’t name names, but we don’t need to tell stories. I expect more, no long faces. Matches are changed from the bench, and today, we facilitated the opponents.”
