Sassuolo CEO Carnevali addresses Berardi’s future amid transfer speculation

Start

Sassuolo’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali has spoken about the future of star player Domenico Berardi, addressing recent speculation about a potential transfer. Carnevali, who was present at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome for the Nations League match between Italy and Belgium, took the opportunity to clarify the situation surrounding Berardi, as quoted by Calciomercato.

Carnevali emphasized Berardi’s quality, calling him a “champion” and expressing confidence in his ability to return to top form following his recent Achilles tendon injury. The CEO also addressed Berardi’s recent comments about his future, stating, “He absolutely did not say he wants to leave. If opportunities arise in January, we will discuss them.”

This statement comes in response to Berardi’s interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, where the player expressed his ambition to play Champions League football and revealed his disappointment at a failed move to Juventus last year. Berardi had said, “Last year I wanted to go to Juventus, but the clubs didn’t agree. I was upset about it and argued with the club because it was the right moment.”

Berardi, who is under contract with Sassuolo until June 2027 and is the highest-paid player in Serie B, has been a subject of interest for several top Italian clubs over the years, including Juventus, Atalanta, Milan, Napoli, Lazio, Fiorentina, and Roma. However, his deep connection with Sassuolo has always prevailed.
