Sarri turns down Spartak Moscow in favour of Milan

Start

Reports from Russian media claim that Maurizio Sarri turned down an offer from Spartak Moscow as he wants the Milan job. The Russian website ‘Championat’ (via TMW)  shed some light on the future of the Spartak Moscow dugout this morning, explaining that the Moscow-based club  reached out to  Sarri in recent hours.

Sarri, currently without a contract following the termination of his agreement with Lazio, has declined the offer as he has a more appealing proposal on the table.

Delving into the details of the news,  journalist Maxim Nikitin touched on the links with Sarri as Spartak’s potential future coach:

“The list of potential Spartak coaches is vast and extensive, featuring some interesting names. For instance, Maurizio Sarri is not just someone’s dream: he was indeed on the list because currently he’s not working, but as far as I know, Sarri said, ‘Guys, I’ll be coaching Milan in the summer.’ So, Spartak is less appealing to him,” Nikitin said.

Currently sitting sixth in the league, Spartak Moscow is presently led by young Spanish coach Guillermo Abascal, whose position, however, is not secure due to a season below expectations.
