Sarri: ‘I have been at Lazio for three years and for some people, we are always in crisis’

Start

Maurizio Sarri downplayed Lazio recent form, following their 1-0 win over Genoa in the Coppa Italia: ‘for some people, we are always in crisis.’ The Biancocelesti edged out Genoa with Matteo Guendouzi scoring the only goal of the match, meaning Lazio will face Roma or Cremonese in the next leg of the competition. Speaking post-game, Sarri analysed the match as he saw it, gicing an update on some of his players in the process:

“Against Cagliari we played a good game. Against them it wasn’t easy. Then you look at the table and think it’s easy. You start from the wrong assumptions. I’ve been at Lazio for three years and for three years we’ve been in crisis. We have the responsibility of not having closed the game. Tonight was like against Cagliari”.

“Guendouzi? He is a boy of energy and personality. He’s in good physical and mental condition, he manages to combine quality and quantity. Vecino’s case? There’s nothing to clarify. It’s a locker room affair. The club and I have decided on this solution, then we’ll talk about it again.

“Felipe Anderson? He has never been constant. He’s a ‘cross and a delight’, now he’s in the first case. We have to wait for him. He’s a sensitive guy in relationships and criticism, I don’t think in relation to his contract.”
