Maurizo Sarri believes Cristiano Giuntoli is the right man for Juventus as he will sort the club out, which is unfortunate for Lazio. Giuntoli has reportedly joined the Bianconeri after helping guide Napoli to the Scudetto last season. The sporting director previously worked with Sarri during their time with the Partenopei, and speaking with journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Sarri explained why he thinks he’s the right man to help the Bianconeri rebuild:
“I think he (Giuntoli) is the right man for this historical period. They need to rebuild something. He is a phenomenon in these situations and so I think it is the right time. Unfortunately for Lazio, he will put everything back together (at Juventus). I don’t know how fast he will approach it, but I know he will succeed in the rebuilding, knowing him.”
“Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa? They worry me because they are two strong players and sooner or later they will return to top form, they may miss a season but in the long run they will return to their usual level.”
“Giuntoli’s three main characteristics? If I had to tell you the most important one is courage. Giuntoli never has the problem of putting an important player on the market and going for an unknown one. That has always been a strength of his.”
“My sabbatical? A coach at these levels if he sits still a year or two does not change. Allegri? Massimiliano seems to me that this year he has managed a season with enormous difficulties, a year that should be taken lightly.”
“Me winning at Juve? I think the context has changed, Juve back then came from 8 consecutive wins and a few Champions League finals everyone thought that winning the Scudetto was natural. I was blamed for having 6 wins and a draw in Madrid, which with the current rules we would have gone into extra time. A team that was considered poor that knocked out City the next round, but at that time the vision of Juve was that they had to be the top team in Europe, with the 10th/11th highest payroll in Europe.”
