Former Milan and Azzurri coach Arrigo Sacchi believes this Napoli side have ‘no limits’ while coach Luciano Spalletti is proving ‘to be a strategist, and not a tactician’. The legendary Italian coach was writing in his column for La Gazzetta dello Sport and heaped praise on the Partenopei, who he sees as unstoppable in this moment:
The game of Napoli is beautiful, modern, fun, and players who, in most cases, are not famous, do not feel they’ve already ‘arrived’, are hungry and enthusiastic. It is a collective football, all always on the move, all always ready to help each other, all participating both in the defensive phase and in the attacking phase.
This is a collective game: pressing, dismantling, constant doubling up. And, this is the thing to underline, the group is growing steadily day by day. Seeing them play is truly a sight.
Spalletti is not a tactician but a strategist: he has an idea that guides him and focusing on the game, which is the only thing that matters.
I feel like saying that I see no limits on this team. In Amsterdam they all looked like champions. And I, who loves aesthetics, can only rejoice in a triumph that is the son of beauty, merit and a high-level game.
I believe that Napoli at this moment, and with this behavior in the Champions League where they have collected three victories in three games always convincing and always having fun, is giving help to our footballing world in which presumption often triumphs and, as a consequence, carelessness and red balance sheets.
Finally I admired a team that has shown that it has great motivations, a high spirit of sacrifice and football knowledge that place it at the top in Europe. Congratulations to Spalletti, because he is doing a truly exceptional job. And it’s not over yet…”.
