Arrigo Sacchi believes Daniele De Rossi should have his contract renewed with Roma beyond the summer: ‘I really think De Rossi deserves to stay’. The Giallorossi have looked a different side since the arrival of their talismanic former captain, losing just once in 11 matches in Serie A. Speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi was full of praise for the Roma coach, and insisted that he has to be given the chance to stay on for the long-term:
“Roma played an excellent match against Lazio. They seem to be in good form since De Rossi’s arrival.”
“Now the team moves according to a clear gameplan. Since De Rossi has been here, in my opinion, they have had made very few mistakes. For the most part they are on point, they fight, they work hard, they are committed. And let’s not forget that it is difficult to maintain tension and balance in a place like Rome. It’s a very difficult environment to work in.”
“I really think De Rossi deserves to stay and have his contract renewed. He’s doing an excellent job,” added Sacchi.
“The team has greater resourcefulness, the atmosphere seems to be different with him in charge and he was able to regenerate a fantastic player in Pellegrini.”
“Milan? They are favorites because they play the first leg at home but I can envision a very interesting match with some surprises,” he concluded.
