Ruslan Malinovsyi set to sign for Marseille

Start

Atalanta are on the verge of selling Ruslan Malinovskyi to Ligue 1 side Marseille. Malinovskyi, 29, had been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, with Correire dello Sport claiming that the London outfit submitted an unsuccessful loan offer.

Malinovskyi has seen his relationship with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini worsen over recent months. The Ukraine international has contributed one goal and two assists to Atalanta’s Serie A campaign this season. He has six months left on his current deal in Bergamo.

With a fast approaching contract expiration date, Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio have revealed that Atalanta are close to finalising a €12m (plus bonuses) agreement with Marseille. Atalanta will have to pay a 10% sell-on fee to Malinovskyi’s former club, Genk.

The 29-year-old will sign a long-term contract with Marseille. RMC Sport broke the original story, detailing that Atalanta and Marseille have remained in contact since the summer. The Serie A side were hoping for €20m in the last transfer window for Malinovskyi or to swap him with Marseille forward Cengiz Ünder.

The no. 10 will leave Atalanta having contributed 23 goals and 21 assists in the Serie A across his three-and-a-half year spell at the club.
