Arsenal’s search for a new striker has intensified following Gabriel Jesus’s season-ending knee injury, with Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic emerging as a potential target. The Gunners, who have long admired the Serbian international, are now considering making a move that could solve both their attacking woes and Juventus’s financial concerns.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Vlahovic’s situation at Juventus has become increasingly uncertain. His relationship with manager Thiago Motta hasn’t flourished, and his hefty contract, which will see him earn €10.5 million this season and €12 million the next, is putting additional pressure on the player. Unlike last summer when Vlahovic rejected a move to Chelsea, he might be more open to a transfer this time, especially if Arsenal presents an attractive offer.
For Juventus, selling Vlahovic could make financial sense. With his current value on their books at around €30 million, the Italian club hopes to receive at least double that amount. The arrival of Randal Kolo Muani has eased their attacking concerns, potentially making Vlahovic expendable for the right price.
However, Arsenal’s interest in Vlahovic is not without complications. Manager Mikel Arteta ideally needs a more mobile striker who can facilitate the involvement of midfielders and wingers, rather than a traditional target man like Vlahovic. The club also has reservations about the significant investment required.
Despite these concerns, Vlahovic’s availability, age (24), and goal-scoring record (11 goals in Serie A and Champions League this season) make him an attractive proposition. Arsenal might prefer a loan deal to assess Vlahovic’s suitability without a mandatory purchase clause, but it remains to be seen if such an arrangement would satisfy Juventus.
