Nicolò Rovella expressed his joy and gratitude following his debut for the Italian national team in their victory against Belgium. The young midfielder, who has been impressing with Lazio this season, spoke to Rai after the match, sharing his thoughts on this significant milestone in his career.
“It was already an incredible feeling to make my debut, but getting it during a victory and from the start was just amazing. I am very happy and hope we can continue like this,” Rovella enthused.
When asked about Coach Spalletti’s frequent instructions during the game and post-match compliments, Rovella responded with respect and appreciation: “It’s right that he calls out to me; he was asking for many things even during the match. The coach is excellent, and being called up by him is a source of pride. He gave me this trust by playing me from the start, and I will always be grateful to him.”
Reflecting on his strong start to the season, Rovella remained focused on the future: “It’s certainly a good start to the season, but I always look to the future and hope to do better and better with both the national team and Lazio.”
The midfielder also shared his optimism about the potential of this rejuvenated Italian squad: “I always say that we shouldn’t set limits for ourselves. This is a great group with many young players who are eager to prove themselves. We need to continue playing as we are to go as far as possible.”
When asked about the dedication of his debut, Rovella’s response was heartfelt: “To my dad for sure, and to my mom. They have always been there and supported me even when I was far from home.”
