Former Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has asked the Old Lady to pay him the €19.9m that was agreed during the early part of the Covid pandemic. According to reports, Juve agreed to secretly pay their players ‘off the books’ despite publicly stating that the squad had agreed to waive three months worth of salary.
La Gazzetta dello Sport now report that Ronaldo wants the Bianconeri to pay him the €19.9m fee what was agreed in 2020 which was guaranteed by the club, even if he left the club.
The Portuguese international has reportedly hired lawyers to look at the situation at Juve and investigate their balance sheets before making his request.
Wiretaps released to the press include Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini discussing the money owed to Ronaldo when speaking to former president Andrea Agnelli in late August 2021, saying: “€19m from the previous year and €9m from a year earlier, so €28m before taxes due to COVID.”
