Romelu Lukaku out with knee injury

Start

Romelu Lukaku will not take part in Inter’s Coppa Italia match with Parma after suffering a knee tendon injury. The Belgian striker has already missed large portions of the season through injury, starting just four games so far and making two appearances from the bench, limiting him to just 347 minutes on the pitch.

The 29-year-old finally returned to action against Napoli last week and looked to be recovering his touch,  but he looked woefully out of form this weekend as the Nerazzuri drew 2-2 with Monza.

Sky Sports Italia report that Lukaku has suffered an inflammation of the tendons of his left knee, which will keep him on the sidelines for the next few days. He’s also expected expected to miss Inter’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie with Parma.

The strikers condition will be reassessed ahead of the weekends game against Hellas Verona with the hope being he can recover in time for the Supercoppa Italiana clash with Milan on January 18.
