Roma’s technical director Florent Ghisolfi addressed the media today to introduce Claudio Ranieri as the club’s new manager. This marks Ranieri’s third stint at the helm of the Giallorossi, following the dismissals of Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric earlier this season.
Ghisolfi began the press conference by speaking on behalf of the Friedkin family, emphasizing the significance of this appointment: “Good morning everyone and thank you for coming here today. I’m also speaking on behalf of the Friedkin family on this important day. There’s no need to introduce Mr. Ranieri. This is an important moment and Roma must return to its roots. The manager knows the team and knows the club. We believe he is the right and suitable person for this project.”
The technical director highlighted Ranieri’s deep connection with Roma and his potential long-term role: “He is a man of great humanity and knows Roma. His vision fits into the entire project. He is part of a central part of the project that is structured in two phases: now as a manager and then in the managerial part.”
When asked about the immediate objectives for Ranieri, Ghisolfi stated: “We have asked him to do what is possible because it is a very difficult moment. It will be about climbing up the table and taking those steps that will help us in this.”
Regarding the decision-making process, Ghisolfi added: “This choice was very important and therefore it was also made with the ownership.”
On the topic of the transfer market, Ghisolfi was cautious: “Now he has arrived and has had the opportunity to talk with the players. We will discuss the rest later.”
