Roma’s Midfield Manoeuvres: Paredes Resists Boca Jr’s Advances, Reitz Emerges as Frattesi Alternative

Start

Leandro Paredes has firmly established himself as a key player for Roma, showcasing his personality and quality in the heart of the midfield. The arrival of Claudio Ranieri as head coach has further boosted the confidence of the Argentine midfielder, with the pair enjoying an excellent rapport.

Calciomercato report that despite Paredes’ deep-rooted affection for Boca Juniors – a club tattooed on his heart and where he made his professional debut – a return to the Bombonera seems unlikely at present. Boca, in their ambitious quest to regain prominence, recently offered Paredes a two-year contract worth €2 million per season – €2 million less than his current Roma salary. However, at these terms, the deal is unlikely to materialize.

Paredes’ contract with Roma includes two automatic renewal clauses: one triggered if he plays over 50% of the matches this season, and another if the team qualifies for the Champions League or Europa League.

Meanwhile, Roma’s incoming transfer strategy revolves around Davide Frattesi. The midfielder would eagerly return to his boyhood club, but Inter Milan’s €45 million asking price makes the deal challenging. Should Ghisolfi’s pursuit of Frattesi falter, the Giallorossi have identified an alternative in Rocco Reitz, a versatile 22-year-old midfielder from Borussia Mönchengladbach, valued between €15-20 million.
