The Roma management finds itself in a state of flux following the dismissal of Ivan Juric after a disappointing home defeat to Bologna. While Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi publicly addressed the situation, it appears his influence in selecting the next manager has been significantly reduced.
According to reports from Calciomercato, the Friedkin Group, Roma’s owners, are expressing dissatisfaction with Ghisolfi’s performance. The club has reportedly engaged Retexo, a recruiting agency, to explore foreign managerial candidates, effectively sidelining Ghisolfi from the decision-making process.
Ghisolfi’s position has been further weakened by several factors. The substantial investment in Le Fée, who has yet to secure a starting position, and the failed pursuits of En-Nesyri and Badé from Sevilla have not helped his cause. Additionally, his attempt to bring in Juventus defender Djaló was halted due to a lack of consultation with the former coach.
While Roberto Mancini remains the most prominent name linked to the Roma job, the Friedkins are taking their time to ensure they make the right decision. Other potential candidates, including Rudi Garcia, are also being considered.
The owners, aware of the critical nature of this appointment, are personally overseeing the search process. They are expected to make a decision within the next couple of days, understanding the urgency of stabilizing the team’s situation.
