Roma manager Ivan Juric expressed satisfaction with his team’s second-half performance in their 2-1 comeback victory against Venezia at the Stadio Olimpico. The Giallorossi overturned a first-half deficit with goals from Bryan Cristante and young talent Niccolò Pisilli.
Juric highlighted the improved intensity after the break, stating, “In the second half, we raised the tempo, played better, and were fresher. We did very well. We shouldn’t forget that on Thursday evening we played a match of incredible intensity, so it’s understandable that some players were a bit below par.”
The Croatian coach was particularly enthusiastic about the contribution of Roma’s young players, singling out goalscorer Pisilli: “I think we have four or five young players to work with well because they are talented, have good legs, and tremendous enthusiasm. There’s crazy energy. Of course, we need to be clear-headed in our choices, but I see them very well. They’re beautiful, pure, I like them a lot. Pisilli, Baldanzi, Koné, Soulé – we have the right people.”
Juric also discussed tactical adjustments during the match: “We switched to a back four and found ourselves very comfortable. Then we opened up to three again, maybe with a midfielder to create numerical superiority, but we interpreted it very well. Those who came on, including Paredes, really gave a great hand.”
Addressing comments about the team’s desire to win, Juric clarified: “I don’t think I said they lack the will to win. I was very happy with the Bilbao game, a great match where we conceded from a set-piece, which sometimes happens, but the will to win was never missing. On the contrary, I see it every day, and today they demonstrated again, in difficult circumstances, that they have a great desire to win. The second half was fantastic, we attacked a lot.”
The manager concluded by praising the squad’s work ethic: “Regarding the boys in these 10 days, really nothing to say, it’s a group that works so hard.”
