Ivan Juric’s position as Roma’s head coach is hanging by a thread following the team’s latest defeat. The Giallorossi suffered a 3-2 loss to Verona, which, although less severe than the 5-1 thrashing by Fiorentina, has put Roma in a precarious situation. Currently sitting in tenth place, the team is now nine points adrift of the coveted fourth Champions League spot.
Calciomercato report that the Friedkin Group, Roma’s owners currently in France, are expected to make a definitive decision on Juric’s future in the coming hours. They have begun exploring potential replacements, including foreign candidates through a recruiting agency called Retexo. However, the possibility of appointing an Italian coach remains on the table.
Among the names being considered are Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Mancini. The latter recently parted ways with the Saudi Arabian national team and is seeking a new challenge. Massimiliano Allegri seems an unlikely option, while a return for Daniele De Rossi has been ruled out, with neither the former Roma player nor the Friedkins keen on revisiting that arrangement.
Despite the mounting pressure, Juric expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance against Verona, stating, “I feel sorry for the boys because they really played an incredible game in terms of intensity, gameplay, everything… We made mistakes on the first goal, then there was this foul, and we conceded the third goal on a counterattack. We lost a match played at excellent levels.”
As it stands, no immediate changes are expected tonight, with any potential decisions likely to be made tomorrow. The situation remains fluid, with Roma’s management weighing their options carefully as they look to salvage their season and climb back up the Serie A table.
