Roma suffered a setback in their Europa League campaign, losing 1-0 to Elfsborg at the Boras Arena. The Swedish side secured victory through a penalty converted by Baidoo in the 44th minute. Following the match, Roma’s head coach Ivan Juric shared his thoughts with Sky Sport.
Despite this being Juric’s first defeat since taking charge of Roma, the coach remained optimistic about his team’s performance. “The team showed many positive things. We need to improve on certain aspects. I saw many chances and a lot of play from us. We created opportunities with Dovbyk and Pellegrini. Overall, I saw interesting things. The result is negative, but not everything is to be discarded,” Juric stated.
Juric expressed satisfaction with the squad’s quality while acknowledging areas for improvement. “The squad has quality. I’m satisfied with many things, some need improvement. But we have taken important steps forward. Thinking about what’s missing in the squad is counterproductive. Now we focus on Monza,” he explained.
The coach also addressed the current form of young talent Soule. “The boy is working hard. At the moment, he’s unable to express the talent he has. But I’m very confident,” Juric concluded, showing faith in the player’s potential.
