Roma unveil new stadium plans

Start

Ryan Friedkin, the owner of AS Roma, along with CEO Lina Souloukou, presented the ambitious plans for the club’s new stadium in Pietralata during a meeting with Rome’s Mayor Roberto Gualtieri. The futuristic design of the stadium, which will have a seating capacity ranging from 55,000 to 62,000, aims for completion by 2027.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report on Friedkin expressing his enthusiasm for the new project, stating, “We are happy to present such an important project for the team. Forza Roma!” The new stadium, envisioned as a dream come true, was showcased in a video presentation released on the club’s website and social media channels. Key features include a cutting-edge design, proximity to the pitch, and a striking Curva Sud inspired by Borussia Dortmund’s famous stand.

Mayor Gualtieri highlighted the project’s significance, noting, “This is a grand project, aiming for top-tier quality. The stadium will feature the largest Curva Sud in Europe, a unique design, and will integrate with Rome’s monumental characteristics while being inspired by green sustainability. The area will be revitalized, and we have discussed the procedure to establish a precise work schedule.”

The meeting addressed crucial aspects of the stadium’s construction, including the progress of ongoing work, the club’s request for municipal support to access necessary areas, and the timeline for upcoming steps. The Friedkin family, previously involved in the construction of Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, is now fully focused on the Pietralata project.

The stadium will not only serve as a hub for football but will also include parking areas and family-friendly zones, revitalizing an area long neglected. Friedkin’s closing words, “Forza Roma,” encapsulate the determination to turn this vision into reality within the next four years.
