In the wake of Ivan Juric’s dismissal as Roma’s head coach, the club’s sporting director Florent Ghisolfi addressed the media to discuss the decision and the path forward. Speaking to DAZN, Ghisolfi provided insights into the club’s current situation and future plans.
Ghisolfi began by explaining the swift announcement of Juric’s departure: “We wanted to immediately publish an official statement. Now we will calmly consider the best solution. I thank Juric, who arrived in a difficult situation. He gave his all from day one, and Roma thanks him for that. We will now make the best decision in Roma’s interest.”
Acknowledging the disappointment of the fans, Ghisolfi offered an apology: “Juric has a playing style that demands a lot physically, but now is not the time for analysis. Juric did his best in a complicated situation. We must take responsibility for our actions. We apologize to the fans who are suffering because we are all responsible for what is happening.”
When questioned about the club’s project, Ghisolfi emphasized the Friedkin family’s ambitions: “The Friedkins want what the fans want: to win. They will continue to invest as they have done so far. Now we must face this crisis. I don’t like the word ‘transition’ because Roma must perform immediately.”
Addressing the controversial decision to dismiss Daniele De Rossi earlier in the season, Ghisolfi was circumspect: “Was De Rossi’s dismissal a mistake? Now we can only take responsibility for our actions. We must try to overcome this crisis.”
