Roma making serious move for Houssem Aouar

Start

Multiple reports from the Italian press suggest that Roma are making a strong move to sign Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar. the 24-year-old Frenchman is out of contract with Les Gones in the summer and is free to sign a pre-contract with another team if he wishes, with Manchester United, Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt all being linked with the player.

Sky Sport Italia, Leggo, Calciomercato and a number of others all report that the Giallorossi are hoping to steal a march on the opposition by securing a deal before the summer begins, in an effort to see off any potential competition.

The Leggo report claims that the midfielder has already been to Rome on Easter Monday to undergo some medical tests at the Campus BioMedico in the Laurentina neighborhood. Aouar was reportedly spotted heading into the facility along with a Roma executive and seen leaving later that night.

Calciomercato suggest that the Frenchman will agree to a €2.8m a year contract after completing a medical, with Roma reportedly having some initial concerns about his injury history.

Aouar is a product of the famed Olympique Lyonnais youth setup, making the breakthrough into the senior team in 2016 before going on to make 229 appearances and scoring 41 goals while providing 36 assists during his time with the Ligue 1 side.

It’s not the first time the midfielder has been linked with a move to Serie A as Juventus came very close to signing him 2020, but a deal was never finalised. Links with Serie A champions Milan also materialized last summer, but the Rossoneri never pulled the trigger.
