Roma are being linked with a surprise move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, who could leave the club this summer. Tuttosport (via CM) suggest that the 26-year-old is a “target” for Daniele De Rossi, who recently renewed his contract with the Giallorossi. The current coach of Roma had the opportunity to get to know and appreciate Chiesa when he was an assistant to the Italian national team coach Roberto Mancini, during the EURO 2021 competition, with Chiesa playing a key role in the National Team’s journey to continental triumph.
The former Fiorentina winger arrived in Turin in October 2020 on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy that would become obligatory upon reaching various clauses, which were met in 2022.
His amortization cost is €14 million, the remaining amount that will weigh on the Juve balance sheet as of June 30, 2024. Chiesa initially signed a five-year contract worth €5 million net per year (about €10 million gross), expiring on June 30, 2025, and does not want to lower that amount.
Juventus’s idea is to extend Chiesa’s contract, thus spreading the amortization cost and granting him a small increase that does not affect the wage bill too much. Chiesa is willing to negotiate but pushes for higher figures, aware that Vlahovic will reach a salary of €12 million. The player will either renew his contract or be sold this summer, with the new development of Roma’s Daniele De Rossi now observing the situation’s evolution closely.
