Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Roma have taken a significant step in their pursuit of Las Palmas defender Mika Marmol, initiating direct contact with the Spanish club. The Giallorossi are keen to bolster their defensive options, and the 23-year-old centre-back has emerged as a prime target in the final hours of the January transfer window.
Las Palmas, however, are standing firm on their valuation of the player. The Spanish side insist that any interested party must trigger Marmol’s release clause, set at 10 million euros, to be paid in a single instalment. This stance echoes their recent response to Sevilla’s inquiry about the defender.
Roma, in an attempt to negotiate a more favourable deal, have proposed including Samuel Dahl as part of the transfer. The Swedish fullback has also attracted interest from Besiktas, who are considering a loan move for the player. However, Las Palmas have shown no inclination to deviate from their initial demand, maintaining that the release clause must be met in full.
The Italian club’s interest in Marmol comes in the wake of Mario Hermoso’s departure to Bayer Leverkusen, leaving a void in Roma’s defensive lineup. With the transfer deadline looming, Roma’s sporting director, Florent Ghisolfi, is working against the clock to secure a replacement.
