Roma in talks with Atalanta to sign Duvan Zapata

Start

Roma have turned their attentions to Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata as they look for a backup to Tammy Abraham. The Englishman is expected to be out until the end of the year with a knee injury, leaving the Giallorossi with Andrea Belotti as their only option to play as number nine in their attack.

The club have been linked with a host of strikers as they look for a capable deputy to lead the line in the interim, but moves for Gianluca Scamacca and Marcos Leonardo have come up short so far.

Sky Sport Italia report that Roma have now begun talks with Atalanta in a bid to sign veteran striker Zapata, who only has a year left on his contract with La Dea.

It’s yet to be seen if a deal can be agreed, but Atalanta may be prepared to let the Colombian striker leave for a nominal fee, especially as they have secured Gianluca Scamacca this summer.
