Roma have begun contacts with Brazilian side Santos regarding a potential transfer for Marcos Leonardo. The 20-year-old has become one of the standout stars for Los Alvinegro, scoring 21 goals in the 2022 season while already finding the next 8 times in 20 games in the current campaign.
La Gazzetta dello sport write that Giallorossi sporting director Tiago Pinto has set his sights on Marcos Leonardo, initiating contacts with Santos to try to bring him to the capital this summer.
Negotiations are not expected to be simple since the player has a contract until 2026 with a €100 million release clause, but the two clubs could complete a deal for close to €20 million, according to the report.
Sporting Lisbon are also reportedly keen on Leonardo, but are dragging their feet and are hesitant to meet Santos’ demands for the player.
