Roma’s Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi has outlined the club’s strategic plans for growth in a recent interview with Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato). The focus is on potentially creating a second team to compete in Serie C and restructuring the youth development system.

Regarding the possibility of a second team, Ghisolfi stated, “We are considering the opportunity to create a second team. It’s on our minds. While it’s a cost, clubs that have made this choice are now seeing the results. It’s not confirmed yet, but it’s a reflection we’re making.”

Ghisolfi emphasized the importance of youth development, explaining, “The youth sector is very important. We’ve worked hard and appointed Alberto De Rossi as head of the department and Roberto Trapani as head of scouting, while Bruno Conti is in charge of the Under-14s.”

The sporting director also highlighted the club’s focus on implementing a consistent playing style throughout the ranks. “Many clubs have based their approach on a specific playing system. The game project is central to our ideas as well, which will make it easier to acquire new players and develop them,” he said.

Ghisolfi pointed to Atalanta as a model for Roma to emulate: “Atalanta is an example in this regard. We are now also seeking this tactical stability by playing the same way with the first team and the youth team.”
