Roma consider Memphis Depay as potential attacking reinforcement

Start

Roma are exploring the possibility of signing free agent Memphis Depay to bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season. The Dutch forward, who left Atletico Madrid in June, has been offered to the Giallorossi as he continues his search for a new club.

Voetbal International report that Depay, currently training in Monte Carlo, has attracted interest from Porto and an unnamed Premier League side. The 29-year-old is keen to continue playing at a high level, ruling out a return to the Eredivisie.

Roma’s interest in Depay comes as the club looks to add another attacker, preferably a left winger, to their squad. The Italian side has previously been linked with Jeremie Boga, Federico Chiesa, and Ricardo Riquelme throughout the summer transfer window.

However, Roma’s transfer activities have been somewhat hindered by the uncertain future of Paulo Dybala. The Argentine’s potential departure has created a stalemate, with disagreements over the distribution of any transfer fee. While Dybala and his representatives expect a portion of the fee, Roma insists that any income from a transfer would belong entirely to the club.

Adding to the complexity of the situation, Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah is reportedly considering a bid for Dybala, although it is expected to be a modest offer
