Roma Close to Signing Rensch: Deal with Ajax in Final Stages

Start

Roma are on the verge of securing a new addition to their squad. The Giallorossi are in the final stages of negotiations with Ajax for the acquisition of Devyne Rensch, a Dutch player born in 2003. Sporting Director Florent Ghisolfi has been working on this deal for weeks, and according to reports, the transfer is now down to the final details.

Calciomercato report that Roma have stepped up the operation following the player’s full openness to the move in recent days. Before targeting Rensch, the club had evaluated other options, including a preliminary inquiry for Alberto Costa, though Juventus was already ahead in that pursuit.

Initially, Roma’s first offer for Rensch was rejected, with Ajax demanding €10 million. However, the Italian club was confident in securing a discount, considering Rensch’s contract was set to expire in June. Roma then increased their bid to around €5 million, which appears to be the figure at which the deal is likely to be concluded. There’s already a verbal agreement with the player for a five-year contract worth €1.2 million per season.

In a pre-match interview before Roma’s game against Genoa, Ghisolfi commented on the potential arrival of Rensch: “We’re working on it. We want a player who can play as a right-back, in a three-man defense, and as a wing-back in a five-man midfield. Someone who brings consistency to the team and has the right mentality to play for Roma.”
