Retegui at risk of Milan, Malta and England games

Start

Genoa striker Mateo Retegui look set to miss a series of matches in the coming weeks, including games against Milan, as well the EURO 2024 qualifiers against Malta and England. The striker skipped yesterday’s training session for Genoa and hasn’t trained with his teammates since the last game in Udine.

The club have ruled out any serious injuries for the Italo-Argentine forward, but Sky Sport Italia report that the idea is not to aggravate his condition since, at the moment, he is still sore after the clash with Thomas Kristensein Udine.

Coach Luciano Spalletti’s Azzurri  team will be back on the pitch for the next European Championship qualifiers against Malta, on 14 October, and England, on 17 October, but Retegui is expected to miss both matches.

The 24-year-old has not disappointed expectations for Genoa this season, having played seven matches, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
