Renato Sanches a step away from Roma move

Start

Roma are reportedly closing in on a deal for PSG midfielder Renato Sanches, with the Portuguese international expected to arrive on loan. The Giallorossi are looking for some extra legs in midfield and have identified the 25-year-old as a prime target, albeit on loan.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Sanches is on the verge of a move to the Stadio Olimpico, with the Giallorossi retaining an option to buy the midfielder for as little as €12-13m. Sanches is reportedly happy to make the switch, while PSG are expected to pay all of his €5.5m-a-year salary.

The newspaper also outlines how Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto has rejected the chance to sign Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer, opting instead for Sanches.

The Portugal midfielder has had a mixed career to date, making his name at Benfica, before a big-money move to Bayern Munich fell short. A switch to Ligue 1 side Lille saw an uptick in his form, but things have once again come to a standstill at PSG.
