Referee’s association vice-commissioner: ‘Inter’s goal should have been cancelled’

Start

The vice-commissioner of the Italian referees association says Inter’s goal against Verona should not have stood.  Andrea Gervasoni was a guest on ‘Open Var’ on DAZN to analyse the refereeing episodes and in particular, the disputed 2-1 by Davide Frattesi in Inter-Verona. A foul by defender Alessandro Bastoni in the build up was overlooked by Luigi Nasca, the official for the match. Speaking to DAZN, Gervasoni said:

“We will analyse the episode calmly, the goal should have been annulled and it was an error. We have to talk calmly with VAR Nasca to understand if he assessed Bastoni’s intervention as a body check. We want to give him calmness, a few matches in Serie B to recover him for the rest of the season and see how he reacts.”

“Sassuolo v Fiorentina? The VAR intervention in Sassuolo v Fiorentina is also an error for us.”
