Claudio Ranieri believes his Cagliari side have been ‘reborn’ and are ‘fighting’ after the 2-1 win over Genoa. The Sardinians followed up their remarkable 4-3 comeback victory over Frosinone last weekend with a solid 2-1 win over Genoa earlier this afternoon:
“I’m particularly happy for the three points. I told the keeper that I didn’t want to concede a goal because sooner or later we would. Gudmundsson is very strong, every time he touches the ball he’s a danger.
“Now Cagliari has been reborn, we’re in for a fight. Now we have to think about Juventus who are the team fighting for the Scudetto because they don’t have the cups. It will be a difficult match.
“The Frosinone comeback? We’ll see at the end of the season if it was a watershed or if the Red Sea will drown us.
“Viola? He’s always ready, but I’m also happy for Oristanio, who had been too self-centred lately. Seeing how experienced players like Viola or Pavoletti train is wonderful. They are the essence of the locker room. Then I can’t make choices related to who brought me to Serie A and they understand that. Finally it’s a positive moment, we scored three more points.”
