The experienced Italian coach emphasized the need for Roma to improve their current form before approaching top-tier managers, stating, “If we don’t recover, we can’t go and bother a top manager. Roma needs a coach who knows how to live up to the expectations of an important club, which isn’t for everyone.”
Tuttosport (via Calciomercato) report how Ranieri’s comments coincided with Carlo Ancelotti’s latest achievement at Real Madrid, where he became the most successful manager in the club’s history by securing his 15th title. Ancelotti led Real Madrid to victory in the Intercontinental Cup in Qatar, defeating Mexican side Pachuca 3-0 with goals from Mbappé, Rodrygo, and Vinicius.
While Ancelotti is under contract with Real Madrid until June 2026, speculation about his future has begun to circulate. There’s a possibility he could leave Spain at the end of this season, especially if Real Madrid president Florentino Perez decides to pursue Xabi Alonso, the current Bundesliga champion with Bayer Leverkusen.
According to the report, Ancelotti is attracting interest from the Brazilian national team, particularly if Ronaldo becomes the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation. However, Roma has emerged as another potential destination for the decorated manager.
Ranieri is reportedly keen on bringing Ancelotti back to the Italian capital, where he spent eight seasons as a player between 1979 and 1987, winning one Scudetto and four Coppa Italia titles. Ancelotti himself has expressed interest in managing Roma in the past, adding fuel to the speculation.
